Proposal to Reopen Gayles Quarry
A planning application (NY/2022/0103/FUL) has been submitted to North Yorkshire County Council by Stainton Quarry Limited covering a proposal to re-open the quarry to the south-east of Gayles which has been disused since around 1895. Stainton Quarry intend to quarry 15,000 tonnes of sandstone per annum over a 15 year period (225,000 tonnes total).
